A brief history!
In early September 2003, Clive Welsh called his friend who was operating Radio Emmanuel in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye to see how he was doing with several challenges before him. To the surprise of Clive, he was told by his friend that he was no longer only to be able to operate the radio station due to several personal reasons and I asked if he would give me a week to pray about and see what the Lord would do with this open door. Clive knowing first hand the powerful ministry Christian Radio in his own life personally and as a missionary to his country seeing the need for the expositional teaching of the Word of God, he began to pray. He then contacted some friends in the US who shared his desire and vision for Christian Radio and within a week’s time, he was given the opportunity to take over the directorship of the radio station and changing its name to Lighthouse Christian Radio. With the radio station licensed for the island, Ambergris Caye, Clive felt the name would be significant because of the role a lighthouse plays to those lost at sea by providing direction, security, and hope as they maneuvering through life’s storms and rough waters. The Light of Christ is what Clive saw as a great need on Ambergris Caye where many from all over the world would come seeking paradise in it’s warm climate, beauty and many water activities. Yet the darkness of sin is prevalent as many both residents and visitors seek to fill the emptiness with the vices of the world.
After many trials, setbacks and intense warfare, Lighthouse Christian Radio FM 101.3 began broadcasting on July 16, 2004 from 8 AM to 8 PM and gradually expanded hours from 6 AM to Midnight. With only one full time staff, Dennis Requena, several old computers and equipment, we began broadcasting half-hour teaching programs, a variety of Christian music; Contemporary, praise & worship, Reggae, Spanish and Caribbean as well as daily news broadcasts: local, national, international news.
We are grateful now for the small beginnings because it really caused us to grow in trust and dependence upon God and His faithfulness.

Support Groups for those infected and affected with HIV/AIDS.
